The effect of homeopathy cannot be scientifically proven?
Too often over the years, dishonesty has been at play in professional associations, scientific and medical publications, government agencies and the mass media. Its purpose has been to serve the greed for wealth and power of the now globalized “medical industrial complex” (concept first introduced in 1971 by the Ehrenreichs in their book The American health empire: power, profits, and politics) and to further the political ambitions of uninformed, unthinking and/or unscrupulous politicians.
On the occasion of recent statements by the German Minister of Health, Dr. Karl Lauterbach, about homeopathy — e.g. in a Spiegel interview: “Although homeopathy is not significant in terms of expenditure volume, it has no place in a science-based health policy. Therefore we will examine whether homeopathy can be deleted as a statutory benefit”, I feel obliged once again, as a human being and as a lic. German Heilpraktiker, to defend homeopathic medicine against unfounded attacks.
Traditional experiential medicine – whether European, Indian, Chinese or of indigenous peoples on every continent – has long stood the test of time. Whether the effect of their medicines or healing methods can be conclusively proven according to the usual modern natural-scientific research methods should not be of primary importance to a healthy society and its health care system.
Secondly, through the pioneering work of the natural scientist and Anthroposophist Lili Kolisko (1889-1976) in the early 20th century, the measurable effect of homeopathic processes in the production of medicines has been scientifically proven. In the last 100 years, hundreds of other scientific studies have been conducted where the informational and energetic effect of a homeopathically prepared substance has been established, even after only nanoparticles or no molecule of the original matter could be measured.
In truth:
- Homeopathy has proven its effectiveness for more than 200 years through the experience of academically-trained doctors, alternative healthcare practitioners, apothecaries and pharmacists. Most importantly, homeopathy has brought welcome relief and sometimes proven a life-saver for countless patients who did not respond well to medical treatment based on materialistic natural science.
- There have been hundreds upon hundreds of natural-scientific studies that have been able to document measurable effects of homeopathy over the last 100 years.
- Most researchers today are unable, through higher cognitive abilities and well-developed imaginative powers, to rise above the limitations of the materialistic worldview in order to investigate the very real multidimensional healing qualities of homeopathy. These abilities and the diagnostic and treatment methods they can give rise to belong to a future-oriented science and medicine.
