As a society, we need to rediscover the sacred nature of food and human nutrition. Earlier civilizations possessed wisdom we have lost in the dominant modern culture rapidly spreading across the globe. Many indigenous populations still try to maintain their traditional ways, although, unless there is a global shift of consciousness with a new set of priorities, their cultures will disappear.
An inhumane and environmentally-hostile set of priorities are governing giant transnational corporate entities which own and operate industrial agricultural, food processing and distribution enterprises across the globe. They are propelling us towards the abyss – an environmental catastrophe and a large-scale human health crisis.
As individuals, families and communities of like-minded people, we can replace a profane attitude toward food with a return to a sacred one. We provide a counterbalance to the destructive forces by:
Starting our own vegetable gardens using organic and/or biodynamic principles;
Supporting organic and biodynamic farmers as much as possible, especially local food producers;
Advocating governmental agricultural and environmental protection policies that are compassionate towards our fellow human beings and the sentient animal and plant lives with whom we share our biosphere.
The following quote from Prof. Dr. Johnson is relative to traditional Chinese culture and medicine. The point of view expressed is one shared in the Indian, Tibetan, Western Esoteric, and Indigenous Shamanistic spiritual traditions throughout the world.
The Five Realms of Energy
The Realm of Minerals
The Realm of Plants
The Realm of Animals
The Realm of Man (Humanity)
The Realm of the Divine
All of these energetic fields originate from one source, and thus contain the vibrational resonance of the True Divine Life-Force.
Knowing this, the ancient Daoists believed that it was possible to enhance the nutritional value of what they ate by adapting an attitude of deep respect for the plants and animals that give their life-force energy for their personal consumption.
The blessing of food and preparing it with a loving attitude allows for the absorption of not only the vitamins and minerals contained therein, but also the absorption of the higher vibrations of the One True Divine Energy inherent in all things.
Prof. Dr. Johnson, PhD, DTCM (China)
Let us rediscover the sacred nature of food and human nutrition. Growing, harvesting, and preparing food with a loving, respectful attitude increases its intelligent life-force energy and nutritional value. We can greatly improve our own health and provide better care for our loved ones if we embrace organic and biodynamic foods, take the time to prepare them with loving attention and eat them in a congenial atmosphere. We are also contributing to the health of our ailing planet.
May you be blessed with good health, good sense and a strong sense of community,
