Patient Compliance: What a Loaded Term

<< “We are very excited about this work because, for the first time, we can create a library of tiny, encased vaccine particles, each programmed to release at a precise, predictable time, so that people could potentially receive a single injection that, in effect, would have multiple boosters already built into it. This could have a significant impact on patients everywhere, especially in the developing world where patient compliance is particularly poor,” says Robert Langer, the David H. Koch Institute Professor at MIT. >>

“One vaccine injection could carry many doses: Microparticles created by new 3-D fabrication method could release drugs or vaccines long after injection” (Anne Trafton, MIT News Office)

In my view, the complexity of this proposed vaccine is liable to have unforeseeable health consequences. There are already questionable ingredients in existing vaccines. The sheer number of vaccinations and the schedule recommended by for-profit pharmaceutical corporations have been exploding in recent decades.

Some questions any conscionable person might ask her- or himself:

  • Aren’t children already being involved as voiceless participants in medical experiments?
  • Aren’t parents and caregivers already being subjected to peer and legal pressure to comply with governmental health dictates of questionable benefit?
  • Aren’t documented injuries and deaths resulting from vaccinations being largely kept out of the public mind as drums are beaten to make them mandatory by economic and political forces?

Altruistic purposes are being ascribed to the research and development of this new vaccine. In all probability, however, it is being driven first and foremost by the profit motive. How often have dangers later been revealed that were either initially known and concealed or became known over time as affected people fell seriously ill or died? Will it be any different with this vaccine?

Synthetic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, genetically-modified organisms, etc. have been allowed by governments worldwide to be introduced into the market, without first being tested and proven safe and effective. Government agencies have often used questionable industry-produced studies as justification for approval, without independent verification. Products have usually only been taken out of circulation when significant numbers of people have suffered serious ill effects from their use, and then often long after the evidence has become clear.

In addition, we are already dealing with the destructive environmental effects of pharmaceutical drug and microplastic pollution in our water supplies. These vaccines with their 3-D printed ‘biocompatible polymers’ will undoubtedly become an additional source of pollution.

Let people be wary of mainstream narratives that are so often driven by commercial interests and lack a sound scientific and medical basis. In recent decades, the revolving door phenomenon (industry to government to industry) has undermined scientific and medical integrity and eroded public confidence.

It is increasingly hard for healthcare providers and patients to access reliable information about vaccine risks and benefits because so much unsubstantiated information has been disseminated by various industries, educational institutions, commercial media, and compliant government agencies that lack the will and/or the necessary resources to challenge assertions made by vested interests.

In our harried contemporary world, psychologically and physically stressed people lack the expertise, time and energy to evaluate massive amounts of scientific and medical information to draw informed conclusions. As a society, do we not want to put policies in place so that people can receive honest advice from wise and knowledgeable sources who are truly looking out for their best interests?

Evidence abounds that the vaccine industry, so highly profitable to transnational pharmaceutical companies, needs to be re-examined. Sound changes will have to be implemented in the way healthcare is delivered if we are to improve patient care while reducing costs.

Morality matters. Ethical scientific and medical behavio(u)r matter. Institutionalis/zed greed and dishonesty — cultural, economic and political — have contributed to the breakdown of healthy social relations and betray the best interests of everyone in the long run.

We clearly need a combination of knowledgeable and compassionate leadership and an awake, aware and engaged public to conceive, develop and implement solutions that will lead to a healthier, happier future.

The question remains, how do we bring about the necessary change of direction, given today’s cultural, economic and political realities?
